Well I'm a married mother of 4 children 3 girls 1 son. I think this applies to parents in general. I, personally don't feel my children are ready to date. My oldest is 16 but I feel that alot of kids can't focus 100% on school and have a boyfriend or girlfriend. When kids start dating alot of them start having sex thats why I feel that young teens shouldn't be unsupervised. They have the raging hormones and it will be a matter of time when left unsupervised before they act on the feelings. I'm not sayin that all teens that date are having sex but in most cases its a matter of time. I work at a hospital and we have alot of teen pregnancy. There are alot of teens who feel like they are keeping their virginity by not having actual penetration of the male organ but they are having anal and oral sex. I'm sorry but it happening everyday out there. You as a parent will know how mature your kids are and if they are ready for dating.

I have 2 daughters who are currently dating and I have absolutely no problem with that fact. I have always been very open and honest with them regarding relationships and in particular the sexual side of things and have never been worried or had reason to worry that they would get themselves into a situation that they would regret or would not be able to handle.

My eldest daughter is 19 and has been going steady with a guy for the last 2 years. Like every couple they have their ups and downs but I kept a close eye on the situation as the relationship developed and offered advice and sometimes a shoulder to cry on when I thought the situation required it. I have always been very careful not to interfere and have always encouraged my daughter to look at things from both sides and to talk about problems instead of letting things get out of hand. It seems to work. They have a good balanced relationship, neither seems to try to dominate the other and they both allow themselves freedom to associate with other friends. He gets the odd night out with the guys and she gets to head off with her friends on a regular basis. They are very close and seem to care for and respect each other a lot. That for me is the important thing.

I just want them to go slow. I know they are one day going to do stuff and go through things I don't even want to think about. I really just don't want them to move so fast they mess themselves up. But I don't want them living in a bottle either.
I will allow my daughters to date when they are 15 years old(supervised) and 16 unsupervised if I meet the young man.
But I'm okay for right now they are only 3 and 5.

for my dad it was kinda hard, it showed him im finally growing up and wanting to do other things then be at home all the time, and not just depending on him all the time. I started dating when i was 13, and im not 18 and have had the same boyfriend for 2 years and my dad loves to hunt and shot bow and arrow and he taught me how to when i was really little. My boyfriend also hunts and all three of us go to a archery shooting place and hang out and shoot our bows its fun and it keeps him involved too. Don't worry about it, your little girl has to grow up someday, just someday might come sooner than you think.
