I was reminded yesterday about Dubbya sitting there, children's book in hand, for 7 minutes after he was told the country was under attack.
What was he doing?
It may have been a nuclear attack for all he knew, but the redneck just sat there dumbfounded. New York, for example, could have been wiped completely off the map, but that stooge just sat there.
Our fearless leader sure wasn't in any hurry to take charge of his country.

First, him sitting there for 7 minutes is a fact.
Secondly, if a nuclear weapon/missle was heading towards our country, a President would have very little time to make the proper decision.
Third, he could have excused himself and tended to the dire business at hand.

NORAD has to be contacted immediately for starters.
He should have been on Airforce One the moment the info was given to him. They have contingency plans for something like our country being attacked.
As the President of a country being attacked, he should have instantly acted.
We don't call the President "commander and chief" for nothing.

Your question is as naive as your view of the world. W is one man among many who control monitor and defend our country. If you don't think for one second that hundreds if not thousands of men and women were scrambling to deal with the situation even bfore he was told about it then Im sorry for you.
As a side note do you believe everything liberl media spins at you?
HAHAHAHAAA... you kill me.

The first thing he was told was that an airplane flew into one of the towers of the World Trade Center. That was all that was known at the time. The news was still speculating that it was an accident. He was not told that he country was under attack, you were not told that the country was under attack, no one knew that the country was under attack.
You are a despicable phony. What could any president do under such a circumstance? Take off in a jet fighter and start shooting? Start launching nuclear missles? Ask John Kerry what he did. His own words were that he and the rest of the democrat leadership in the Senate just sat there unable to think for quite a while.
I responded to the World Trade Center that day, you idiot. Find something else to make fun of.

That seven minutes could have been avoided if former President Bill Clinton would have gotten Monica out from under his desk in the oval office long enough to deal with the threat that was building against our country. president bush has worked overtime cleaning up the mess a democratic administration left behind. the liberal idiots that continue to dissect our presidents every move need to take a long hard look at what really caused 911 and learn from it because if you don't history will surely repeat itself.

You're asking a question that you think you already know the answer.
If the answer was: absorbing the information and deciding on the next steps, you would say he was dumbfounded.
If the answer was: immediately put all our fighters in the air and take action, you would say he should have waited for more information.
But don't worry, you can vote for Hillary in a few years and then you can see how messed up things can really get...

I rarely defend President Bush, but in this instance, I believe he did the right thing. The video clip shows the aid leaning in and whispering something to Bush who acknowledged it. In a few seconds, he has to make a decision whether or not to cut off his visit with those children. Putting yourself in the position of a 7 year old child, you wouldn't care about attacks in New York, all you would remember is that the President walked out on you leaving you very disappointed. The seven minutes he spent with those kids would not have mattered one bit in our response to 9/11anyway. Besides, had he run out of that classroom and ordered an immediate retalitory strike on someone (who?) then you'd be complaining about him being a hothead.

I hate to say it, but I'm not sure how I would react if I was told that some terrible disaster had happened, and I was entertaining a room full of children! On the one hand, you can't express any negativity if you're not planning on explaining it to them; on the other hand, this isn't really a "boys and girls, lets talk about terrorism" kind of moment. In the end, he chose the bluntest way out after it became apparent that he had no choice.
And its all been downhill from there...

My bet is that he was just wondering what would be said about him on yahoo. Would he be up the the task of taking all the punishment that would becoming his way.
Or may be he was planning the invasion of Iraq and Iran. Seven minutes, he had plenty of time to do that.
Just may be he was considering what a long term war we were about to enter and the price to be paid.

He was worried he might get caught or blamed for 9-11 .
After all his brother assisted in making sure the buildings would collapse .
He had pulled the FBI's tight surveillance on the terrorists that where responsible just months prior to the attacks .
I think he was panicked and unsure what to do at that crucial moment because he was torn between guilt and what a president would do in that situation had he not caused it .

There's only one retard in this question and it isn't W. What exactly was he supposed to do? Get up and run around screaming WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE! and scare the kids? At that point there were protocols that everybody knew what to do (More or less) and W didn't have to give the order.
