The way I see it, if we are passive in our stance (like Fance, Canada, etc.), that we better get used to the idea of having suicide bombings in the US and in the UK. Unless we make our stance strong by having a continued presence in the middle east and continue to fight the war on terror in THEIR neck of the woods, then we will have to start fighting this war in our own backyard. They (middle eastern countries) hate the West...whether we do anything or not. If we help them, they hate us....if we ignore them, they hate us. The real issue here is that they are jealous of our success as a country. Since we will probably never make them happy, we might as well be safe by managing the issue on THEIR turf and not ours. Therefore, how can people justity us leaving the middle east to manage itself?

At some point, the US has to acknowledge the world as it exists today...not as they wish it was. We are being sucked into the crisis in the middle east...which has been going on for decades. Are we willing to commit that kind of participation? Throughout the world, suicide bombings occur. And it will occur in America, with or without an American presence in the middle east. Better to bring the forces home...to secure the borders and step up domestic intelligence. That is the best way to ensure the safety of the US, in my humble opinion...

Last I checked, we are not the world's police. I understand the "fight them over there so we don't fight them here" argument, but that doesn't mean we should bankrupt our nation by having our entire millitary chasing ghosts in Iraquagmire.

We can fight terrorism with our allies, we should be a scalpel, removing religious extremeists like a cancer. Not going willy-nilly all over the world destroying everything in sight. This only gives more support to the terrrorists we wish to destroy.

A thoughtful question, not getting enough true facts makes it hard to discern the truth, but this statement seems logical.

Bin Laden stated that he is at war with U.S. because of our bases in Saudi Arabia. Our system of government has historically been very inconsistent on foreign policy, if we just stay out of it, it would be more consistent.
