i got 3 kids of my own and when i went to school we had to actually dress and take pride in our appearance there was no such thing as ADD and teachers are using ADD as an excuse NOT to teach our children my friends have kids with ADD and the children use it as an excuse NOT to learn or pay attention our education or lack there of is failing our children teachers need to have disiplinary in the classrooms not abuse but consequences for rude behavior it does not exist anymore kids act up they are immediately suspended not lets try to keep this child in school where they belong but instead they hear you are unteachable and the education system is falling apart and failing our children our kids are in school for 8 hours a day no i am not a teacher but a mother who does not want her children growing up without consequences i always take the teachers side and parents do not do that anymore it is how dare you think my child... or why are you picking on little tommy tommy would never.. and oh yes tommy does and i m fed up with it so children today have no consequences teachers that don't care and parents to hide behind and we wonder what is wrong with today's society

I think the only thing they would have in common is the rebellion and teen angst like no one understands them but the way both eras expressed that is way different... the values are different... the styles are different.... it's just a new age and some of the "progress made" is not good.

The main difference lies in the chances offered to them in life then and now. That difference may not necessarily mean greater opportunity but, surely no-one could doubt, a deeper awareness of that opportunity gap.
