Shakespeare's play are divided into five acts, but in performance there was not necessarily any clear separation between them. The dramatic structure rises with the climax, turning point happening in the third act. Today, many modern presentations are split up into two acts with a intermission. Often we don't realize the five separate acts.

Five - but that doesn't mean you'll get four intervals if you go to see a Shakespeare play at the theatre. Usually the acts run into each other.
