yes,I believe the main character is a girl.there is also going to be a guy in it. here's a picture of him.

I'm not sure if you know, but they are all so going to make final fantasy 13 versus (which I think is a sequel to final fantasy 13) and the main character is going to be a guy.here's a picture of him

Okay, first off, to answer the Poster's question: The main character in Final Fantasy XIII is a girl.
Then to reply to the person above me...
CLOUD does NOT have a gun sword...It's Gunblade, by the way, and Squall Leonheart from FFVIII is the one who used it...Please get your facts straight...

Square-Enix plans on making a trilogy of FF13's, one being FF13 which has the female in the teaser clips you can find online, another one is FF13Vs. which has a male who is the lead in the teaser clips, and another which i don't know too much about.. its for another console.. im thinking its a handheld one but not sure.
