Do you think an 80-year-old bedridden woman would have the same diameter femur as a 30-year-old athlete?

What about the thickness of compact bone?

Reasonable answers appreciated,

thanx

No. Your bones are remodeled all the time. They say that every 10 years or so the bones are completely remodeled. A bed-ridden 80 year old woman would have osteoclastic acitivity and osteoporosis. The femur of an athelete would be well mineralized, and because of constant exercise, would be thicker and stronger. All bone under stress from weight bearing, muscle activity, etc. And this remodels the bone making it stronger where the stress acts on it. Remember that bone is living tissue.

THE THICKNESS OF BONES DEPENDS ENTIRELY ON THE BODY WT. OF A PERSON.AGE&SEX ARE THE OTHER FACTORS WHICH INFLUENCE.WELL IF U TALK EXCLUSIVELY ABOUT WOMEN IT IS TRUE THAT BONES GET WEAKER WITH AGE SPECIALLY AFTER MENOPAUSE.THIS IS DUE TO THE LACK OF ESTROGEN HORMONE &AGEING HAS ITS EFFECT AS WELL.
