they want to look like straight golfers

erm the same reason straight men wear colourful clothes. Or anybody wears what they are wearing right now. Heres the simple instructions:

1. Go to local shopping centre
2. Go into a clothes shop
3. Look at the clothes on the rails etc
4. pick something you like
5. make sure it is in your size
6. try it on (or not sometimes you can just guess)
7. Go to the till or cash register
8. This is the important bit that prevents you getting a night in the cells or a criminal record: pay for it
9. Take home your purchases and wear on any occasion you feel like.

Sorry but your question was really that stupid!

I don't know, why do...
Assuming this is not part of a joke, I know gay males who would never wear anything brighter than grey!
Surely, this is one of those generalisations...Some men - gay or straight - will wear bright colours. Their personality has something of the "peacock" about it!!!
Same for women. Some wear bright, some pastel, some neutral. Nothing to do with sexual orientation.
Also, colour choices vary between cultures and climates in which people live. The hotter the country, the brighter the colours???? Maybe you've only met gays from the Caribbean so far???
Lord, I have an opinion on everything these day. Pip, pip!

This is another sterotype. Lots of people wear coloful clothes. I am gay yes, I wear a lot of color. I like color. Especially right now. It is Spring. You should wear bright colors. People wear what they want and what matches their personality and own fashion sense. It does not make you gay.

Oh no not another stereotype! Hey gay men wear any color they like, just like anybody else. In case you're wondering, gay men tend to be more open minded about such things. We (most of us) don't believe in gender biases, like pink for girls and blue for boys. So i suppose, we can pretty much wear whatever we fancy, without the so called guilt trip or "what will people say" attitude!

So that in 5 years or so straight guys will know what to wear without appearing to be gay.

Oh man. I don't do anything right. I read this question and the answers then I looked in the mirror. I've got on black shoes, black jeans, a black tee shirt, and a dark grey sweatshirt. I'm ashamed. I'm the worst gay man on the freaking planet. I'm going throw myself under a bus or something.

That's a bad stereotype! I am a gay male and I like the Gothic look!

W'sup with the bar combat remark? regrettably there isn't any suitable answer right here for you. Society will choose you for dressing like a dude. yet you will choose your self for dressing fem. Are you considering FTM? it particularly is form of extra severe..possibly take a little time to think of approximately what you like.

I tend to wear neutral tones, usually on the dark side. Oh wait, are you referring to all those sports teams? I didn't realize all those brightly colored uniforms meant they were gay.

I don't like colorful clothes, but I do like t shirts with logos or stuff on them and jeans. That's what I wear year round no matter how hot or cold.
