You need to read a lot of books. Most of them you don't have to read from cover to cover. You also will need to read a lot of articles. When you do research, you need to spend more time in the library.

I was a double humanities major (Lit and AH), and I used every spare minute to read. Professors will let you know what part of a book they're going to concentrate on and will often give you advice on how to skim material (what parts are important, whaat to look for, etc.)

Don't skip hum courses just because there's a lot of reading. Much of the reading is delightful, interesting, amazing, maddening, or astounding.

Depends entirely on the college and the instructor. The Humanities course at the liberal arts college I attended had an EXTREMELY extensive reading list. Aside from the five basic texts...there were upwards of 20 paperbacks to be read each semester.

lol a lot. It varies a lot honestly. In college the proffessors choose what they want their classes to read. I'm in my 3rd year of college in the humanities and I can't even begin to count everything I've read. Plan on reading at least one novel a week.
