I live in the US. Just wondering if anyone has had one and what was the outcome what made you. I have a little hump forming on my spine from the weight of the girls. I am not a big person..but I feel like it is taking its toll on my body. Please give me some insight; please serious answers and experiances. I live in IL so if anyone has any referrals to great doctors please post the information in the context of your answer. Plus did your insurance cover it what did you have to say?

Insurance covered my reduction 100%, I only had to pay a copay for the hospital stay ($75).

My only regret is that I did not get it done sooner.

I absolutely love it.

The key to reduction surgery is PATIENCE, as it takes over a year for the scars to fade and your size to be steady.

You should take two weeks off for work (more if you are in a physically active job) and you won't be back to 100% for a month or so.

To find some doctors in your area, look in your health insurance plans directory, then find information on them on the web, and any reviews about them. Some sites to look at:

http://www.locateadoc.com
http://www.breasthealthonline.com (this site is a wealth of information, FAQ's, and members pictures of before and after their reduction surgery, as well as a support board!)
http://www.bfar.org This site talks about breastfeeding after reduction.

There is tons of information for you that I have and I would gladly answer any ?'s you have.

Edit:

I did not need documentation about any back pain for my surgery. All I did was complain about back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, grooves in my shoulders due to heavy breasts, and rashes under my breasts.

I also did not need to lose any weight for them to approve my insurance coverage.

They covered mine 100%, but some will cover anywhere from 50-100. If you go with a PS that is NOT in your coverage plan, you will pay more out of pocket.

i have a friend who had a large problem removed . she was very much in demand at parties. but hated the attention afforded to her because of her girls.. she had reduction surgery and has felt 100% better ever since. she had her cup size reduced by about 5 - 6 bra sizes. wow .. she is so much happier the recovery took about 3 weeks for the pain of surgery to be gone(it diminishes daily), and about 3 months before she could handle being fondled gently but after 1 year she is back to normal.. oh except for the backaches & the parties..they are gone.. happy happy joy joy ! her hubby isn't thrilled but oh well. :)

In order for ins to cover it you must have it documented it causes you pain. Start complaing to your primary Dr about back pain, the little hump, shoulder pain, the straps digging in and leaving a groove in your shoulder. complain about it all over again to a plastic surgeon. It must be well documented for the ins co to pay, and depending on your ins, most I've heard about cover 100%. Sorry I don't have my own experience to share, I sharing from some of my friends and patients. The end result of the surgery looked great, and they felt a huge relief. The pain went away and they started buying real cute bras and shirts! Their confidence and self esteem sky rocketed!

I know a couple people that have had breast reduction surgery and they were very happy with the results. The only downfall was that when one of them had a baby she could not breastfeed her. Hope this helps.
