I am a black man and I like Hank Williams Jr's music. I would like to see him in concert but I can only imagine they will be tons of rednecks there and I would likely be one of very few black people there. Do you think I would be risking my safety if I went or do you think I should go but only go with a big group of white friends. I just know how people regardless of the color can get when they start drinking and rebel yelling. Am I over reacting here?
If you don't like...Kid Rock and you don't like... Gretchin Wilson and you don't like...Charlie Daniels...and you don't like... Big & Rich etc etc. :-)

I don't see why you would!! I love country music myself and I think it is for everyone. Everyone can relate to the music. I would go for it and don't let anyone give you ****!

I am a country boy, country musician, southerner, and Texan from a small town. I can assure you that you will have no problems, I go to bars all the time (both big and small) full of white dudes where black guys are speckled here and there and they are treated no different than anyone else. Most are even really liked and respected highly because they have found to just be dang good people and nobody judged them based on skin color in the first place. The stereotype that all rednecks hate blacks is just like the stereotype that all blacks will rob you or are in a gang, it is without merit to me. Sure you have a few bad apples, but the majority are good folks.

The reality of it is that nobody cares what you are. I don't know why there's this stereotype that all country fans are rednecks who hate minorities, because it isn't the case.

And not for nothing, but Bosephus is Mvskoke (Creek) Native. So are a lot of country singers and fans. Don't assume they're all white.

I'd try to go to a concert in a more urban setting as opposed to a small town in the hicks, and yeah definitely go with a large group of friends. It's too bad that you even have to ask this question, but hopefully soon others won't.

Wish you luck with it!!
