I am not uncomfortable around black people. I am uncomfortable around ignorant people; white, black, red or yellow.
Sweetheart, if you are uncomfortable around black people without any good reason I suggest you do any of the following:
- Keep being uncomfortable and live with your fear (real or imagined)
- Try to make friends with a black person, just seeing the person for who he/she is, and not through statistics on TV. The same way you'd make friends with people of your own race. The results may shock (and enrich) you.
It may surpise you to know that black people are just that-people. There are smart ones, silly ones, ugly ones, beautiful ones, nasty ones and nice ones, educated ones and ignorant ones.
Most black people I know only want to be treated like people, not a colour or a basket case. We don't all go around thinking about revenge on the white man or seeking reparations for slavery; I should know.

I don't know but i grew up in all Black country then went to an predominantly black and other minority school i moved a few years ago now i go to an 80% all white college and i was a little uncomfortable at first i felt as if everyone was staring at me or something but it's been two years and i have some great friends that i would not have otherwise meet if i didn't open my eyes (i guess became color blind )
My point people are people no matter what color their are good and bad individuals in all races ,there is no need to feel uncomfortable around blacks , whites and so on ; not everyone is out to get you

Can I just say that there are no black people, nor are there any white people. We're all brown because of the melanin in our skin. Not being politically correct here, I'm being biologically accurate. The only difference is the amount of melanin in our skins and our geographical heritage.
I get offended at the labels and refuse to call myself or allow myself to be called ' white'. I'm beige and that is what I put on forms, including the official census form.

Funny thing that...
I live in South Africa and grew up in a township (equivalent of a ghetto)...
Because I'm so light in complexion I felt uncomfortable amongst my own. Well, its not hard to feel that way when you're stared at constantly and people plainly go..."wow! you're so pale...are you sure you're not white" or "are you sure your mom didnt cheat on your dad?".... I'm black (",) - go figure.
Either way, Black and White people are from different backgrounds. I'm uncomfortable around some white people coz I dont know if I'll be able to make conversation or find mutuality... I suppose

It's not colour but your comfort zone .We all have one and as soon as anyone or anything challenges it we then have to deal with it .If say you lived all your life in the same town but one day had to move . I bet the first thing you'd do is to try and find people and things that made you feel comfortable to put you back into your comfort zone

Nothing!!!!!!!!
I don't know if u're asking the US audience only, coz i'm writing from Italy
I got no problem with people if they're good people first, never mind about the color of skin.
I like black people, but to be honest with u, i never had a black guy as boyfriend yet, for example.
I like black people coz they're very hot and warm, even more than we italians and this is a kind of difficult, trust me!!!
I'm kidding but i think my culture is more next to theirs than the "anglo-saxon" ones (i'm not talking about races, beware, only about cultures!!!)
i think the whole world is "in debt" with the black people coz they gave us the very musical gems we're not able to produce.....anyway this is my opinion!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Experience with them. I have never had a theft encounter by a strange white person but have -many times, with blacks. They have no morals and steal and don't even think about the consequences, karmatic or legal.

It's not black people, it's the violent Ghetto types that are scary. Middle class educated black people are also uncomfortable around their low class violent ghetto black people. It's not the color, it's the behavior of a class of people.
I get along find around black people that I associate with but these are not the ghetto types.
