It speaks volumes...BUT....until you HEAR what comes from the inside of that person, you will be blind to what their appearance is telling you.

Dxmn, that was kinda deep, for me anyway. I think I just impressed myself...I better call my mom and let her know I really did learn something after all these years.

EDIT: Case in point...talk to "Kill me with a snowball" up there. I think she knows exactly what I'm saying.

Of course, its your first impression. Why do you wear what you wear on a job interview? Of course in your free time you are more apt to be yourself, but even then you should maintain a level of cleanliness. Clothing has a way of speaking for you even if your attire has no words or pictures. What impression do you want to give to people is the concern here. I do believe that some give false impressions and some give very clear impressions with their attire. Example, if a woman wore a very low cut blouse, shirt, or whatever and shes a hair length away from showing her goodies, some guys may be attracted to that and some women too, but most may feel that she is dressing inappropriately and very suggestively. If I wore a shirt that said "Die ***** die" and I knew that its just a name of a rock band or rap group, the general public may not know that and take offense to it because of their perception and interpretation of the words. Some parents don't care how their kids dress, and some do, but to answer your question, yes, a person's personal appearance says a lot about them even if they are a good person, but good people need to know how to dress appropriately.

It depends on the person and how they feel about their appearance. I knew a nuclear physicist that was often mistaken for a janitor and a successful real estate investor that was mistaken for a homeless person. Swindlers and thieves often dress very well.

Learn to look beyond first impressions and mode of dress. It can be very misleading.

Some appearances are a giveaway- you can tell someone is likely to be shallow (too-perfect make-up, too many accessories, in a group who all look similar), boring (suit), or that they work on a construction site (hard hat).

A bit of mystery is always best- and you can't buy style: it should just be there with little appearance of effort to achieve it.

I dont think it says alot, but definitely something. I have a hip-hop fashion sense, however, I would never wear that attire when I'm at work just because I know that people draw conclusions from your clothing, no matter what comes out your mouth.

yeah of course. nowadays society judges people based on looks. if you dress emo or whatever, they`d think you`re always sad. if you wear a mini skirt with a top, they`d think you`re slutty, if you dress in a vest & a tie, they`d think you`re too serious. if you have too much makeup on, they`d think you`re a makeup whore & shallow because all you do is care about your looks. either way, the first thing people notice is the way you look & the way you dress, so yeah.
