That is exactly what I do. The porch one is just in case someone should come over and the stove one is so I don't fall or trip during the night.

My family always leaves the porch light on and the upstairs landing light...just incase someone wants to go to the toilet at night and its not too dark to see!

We have nightlights on in the bathroom, hallway, and the florescent light on the stove, but I prefer to sleep in pitch black. Even the arc sodium glow of the street lights outside bothers me.
