Most young people are just vocal about their politics but are too lazy to get out and vote. Most liberals are just loud-mouth punks who want to just stir up trouble. Every see an anti-war protest? Some people come out just to raise hell.

It is a misconception that young people are "vocal" in their politics. Maybe in some slice of society (at college) this is somewhat true, but by and large there is apathy and ignorance, therefore no voting. Please identify the problem with this. Everyone hopes the "young people" with tip the balance toward their cause. Politician understand that poor voter turnout takes away their authority. If young people don't care, they probably shouldn't vote, and the less mandate politicians have for their foolishness, the better.

I made it to the polls this past november, not to mention every primary and general election since I turned 18 (I'm 30 now).
Voter turnout between 18 and 30 was actually pretty high for the '94 and '06 elections

What would make me get out and vote? When the popular vote counts. Why dont young people get out and vote (for presidents) I would guess they did their home work and realize that their vote does not count in any way shape or form when it comes to who is president. it is "Electoral" votes that decide who is president. So, like me they have better things to do than run to a voting booth and make a vote that is worthless. Just think how great this country would be "IF" your vote did count. The president of the United States of America is supposed to represent the Citizens of the United States. He is suppoed to only answer to the Citizens of the United States. I'm 41 years old and that has not happened in my lifetime, not yet anyway.

I think Obama has asked the same question on Yahoo's home page. (Remember folks he is Muslim and they believe everyone who is not Muslim should be killed. Do you really want him as a political leader in the USA?)
Anyway, the age group you refer to, I believe, are referred to as Generation X. They have big mouths but no guts to back themselves up. I mean, it might take some old-fashioned work to actually make significant change. Just too hard for them. The only mark they will make on history is an "x". My son is in this age group, and he votes every time. I think this group are way better educated than the older generation, but feel it is futile to attempt change. So they don't even try. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him float!

I am such a young person, except I always show up to the polls; even for the small stuff. I feel it is the only way for my little voice to be heard, so I do my research and I vote. I love it!

You said the magic word why young people don't go vote, school. In the same token, voting is an old people's duty and those under 30 years are not to worry about such petty things.

Young people want to be heard by their own peers but could care less about the issues. Why is it that all of these college kids are average or below average students, yet supposed experts on political issues?

The test to prove a citizen is ardent is that s/he shows up at the polls. They may or may not be vocal, but they are certainly not committed. I can't see a rationale for luring voters who lack the sufficient commitment to political matters to show up at the polls.

I think that in general terms they are too ignorant of the privilege of voting. Maybe they recognize they are too stupid to make an informed choice, although that doesn't stop most republicans. I think it would be best for the country to have to earn the right to vote, by proving a minimum level of knowledge or intelligence.
