Sam Fox, a St. Louis businessman was nominated by George Bush to be the Ambassador to Belgium. It has been revealed that he donated $50,000 to the Swift Boat Veterans For Truth ( SBVT) organization during the 2004 presidential campaign.
The SBVT claimed that John Kerry's medals were undeserved. All objective investigations of these claims have led to considerable skepticism. It seems the SBVT main goal was retribution for John Kerry speaking out against the Vietnam War as a former veteran of that war.
The Senate Foreign Relations Committee is considering whether the contribution to the SBVT is cause for rejecting the nomination. What is your opinion ?

Almost all of the ambassadors in countries with very stable relationships to the US appointed any president are there because of political favor (aka fund raising or other support). Don't kid yourself that just becuase a story broke about this one person that the same wasn't done by every other President going back to Washington.

As for Bush, don't forget he appointed Katherine Harris to an ambassadorship after she, as Secretary of State in Florida, gave Bush the election. She then managed to become a Reprenstative for a very conservative part of Florida, though she was trampled in her Senate try by Senator Nelson.

The nomination has been withdrawn because he didn't have a chance at being approved. Both parties criticized the group as one that told untruths and smeared John Kerry wrongfully. Eleven of John Kerry's group in Vietnam wrote a letter to the Senate committe calling for Fox to be rejected as an ambassador.

why are you surprised? he fed the propaganda machine and now he's being rewarded.
As for SBVT did anyone think it odd that one of the members saying Kerry didn't earn the medals he got was one of the people that signed off on awarding them to him? And where are they today? Why hasn't anything come from all that? Just more Bushaganda slander.
