They probably say that because it goes by very fast.

In my opinion, they say life is too short because by the time you finally figure out what is truly important in life, your body and mind are breaking down! One spends a lot of their life acquiring material things because society has taught us that if we accumulate these "things" we will be happy. Only thing is, when you have these things -- home, furniture, car, kids, vacations etc., you realize that you are not really happy and you feel cheated! So then, you only have a "short" time to do all the things that are really important -- forge deep meaningful friendships, make amends with people you may have hurt, spend more time learning about and sharing who you really are on the inside with others, spend more time with family and actually enjoy all the beauty God created for you. We are spiritual beings and only are in this body (I call it a mud suit), a little while, but our spirit lives forever.

think about this... let's say everyone lived to be 100.
well when you are 10 you have a lot of life yet but when you are 25 a quarter of your life is gone already.that's a lot. by the time you reach 50 you wish you could go bac to when you were 25. you see what I am trying to say is when you are young you look forward to when you can do stuff older people can do... like drive a car, drink, vote,
but when you get older you wish you had not looked forward to it cuz it's really not as great as being young. the best years you have ever had are probably when you are still in school. Just my 2 cents

As a child, we may not even think about time. When we reach our teens, we grow somewhat impatient with time. It is then that we want to be older so we can get our drivers license and stay out later and start dating and all those things. So, we find that time doesn't pass quick enough. Once we're well into our 20's, 30's and older, we realize one day that time has been passing by much quicker than we ever realized. Naturally, the older we get, the shorter OUR time becomes. Our ideas about certain things change somewhat.

I agree that life is "short". Because the average person only lives to be about 75-85 years old.
I, personally would LOVE to live to be about 500 years old (kinda like the Highlander!) lol.
I'd love to live for a long, long time and see the world, see times change, etc.. (just like The Highlander!)
But, I know that I will not live for 500 yrs, so life is short (for me).
Cheers

Life is short is one of those speeches to encourage you to seize the day, because you never know. As best put by Chris Rock, life isn't short, it's long, and you'll have to live with the consequences of your actions for a very long time, so don't do anything stupid!

Because as you get older you have more to look back on, and you realise that even though something seemed to have happened a couple of years ago, it is in fact 20 yrs ago!
Also you realise that life is too short to be spent sitting in front of .........sorry just looked out of the window and seen what a lovely day it is..bye.

We try to cram so much into our lives that we never seem to have enough time to do the things we ought to do. The things we have to do take up so much time that there is not enough time left over for the things we would like to do. So life is short; but even if it were longer, we still wouldn't have enough time!

Because i do believe life is short. We are so preoccupied with our daily lives. We probably don't realise that the hours are simply ticking away. Even now as i type this answer, i know this time i have used i will never get back!!
Depressing isn't it!

The universe has been here for nearly 14 billion years.
The Earth has been here for nearly 5 billion years.
The average age of a human is 72 years.
Life is short in comparison.
