If we just allowed them to be said, they would lose their shock value. So the people who are offended are the ones who make them offensive in the first place.

Yes, that is true. I don't cuss, out of respect that someone may be offended. But if someone else cusses, I don't take offense to it, because it is just a word, in reality. The word "sh**" means the same thing as the word "poop", yet people are more offended by the first one. If someone yelled at the top of their lungs "Aww, POOP!", most likely people would kind of find that funny, But if someone yelled "Aww, SH**!" there would usually be someone who got offended. It's all a matter of culture, really. In Greece, it is the same as flipping someone off when you raise your hand, palm facing the person. Over in America, that's a greeting. In America, it is considered offensive to say "Jesus Christ!". Yet we say "Holy Cow!" and think nothing of it. Holy cow was created as a rude comment toward the Hindu religion. It should actually be as offensive as saying "Jesus Christ", but because of our culture, it isn't. It's all kind of silly if you think about it.

Right!! And then we would have to be furnished with a new list of forbidden and shocking words. Those words release tension by violating good manners and societies proprietary rules. @8-)

I thought you called them curse words. They really don't have any meaning. They don't mean a thing but just to confuse and hurt people.
