Can you check sperm health at home with an ordinary microscope? I know everyone suggest seeing a doc, but with no insurance, my husband and I are not quick to run to the hospital. We would like to try this first if possible..

Not that I know of! I'd stick with the doctors.

They can be hard to find but yes its possible to see them, but just because they are there don't mean that you know what healthy looks like. I found this out the hard way. You have to make sure that you have a scope that has the best options for focusing and all that jazz, but seeing how fast they are and how many vs dead ones is a different story.

Another option is to make sure YOU are fertile when you think you are. They have this saliva microscope that you can get at target for like $20 and you put a small amount of saliva on it and then focus it, (it looks like a tube of lipstick) and when you are your most fertile, it shows a ferning pattern (like a fern plant leaf) I thought what a joke, but it really truly works! I was stunned.... Start charting and taking your body temperature with a basel body thermometer and noting your cervical mucus... you can get blank charts online too
Good luck
