I have a rose tattooed on my hip and i am pregnant with my 3rd and it has stretch marks all though it an you can't really recognize it anymore. so just keep that in mind when you are thinking about tattoos. Or wait until after you have kids to get one there.

I got a tattoo around my belly button and found out two months later I was pregnant. I worried about the tattoo stretching out, and it did stretch as my belly grew, and then more so after the baby was born because I wound up gaining weight with the birth control I was on. Luckily I didn't get stretch marks running through it. When I started Nutrisystem and lost a lot of weight, it started going back to it's original shape. Now I'm pregnant again but it hasn't stretched, possibly because it was used to stretching already. I would think it depends on the tattoo and how each woman's body is (whether they get stretch marks in that area, etc.). I would wait, though, or maybe think of another area to put a tattoo that doesn't usually stretch with pregnancy. The one on my back and ones on my ankles didn't stretch at all.

I have a heart tat right under my belly button and yes mine streched but only a little. It did go back to normal after my first child but has restretched out with this pregnancy. I lost a lot of color in it though but I have also had it for over 10 years and it was homemade. If it goes like my last pregancy, it will be back to normal as my stretched skin does.
Currently, my tat there is almost gone, so once I am done having kids, I will be going to get it re-colored. Good luck with your desicion and remember that everyones skin is different and you won't really know what will happen until it happens to you.

It depends on your body and how much elasticity is in your skin. A tat on your abdomen does not mean that it's going to get stretched out... Don't get me wrong, if you're prone to stretch marks, it could, but if not, it could very well look just the same as it did before you got pregnant.
Unfortunately, it's kind of the chance that you take when you have abdominal tats and get pregnant.

my sister has a tatoo on her hip and my best friend has one that circles her belly button.
My sister has one baby and the tatoo went back to normal and my best friend has 3 children and the tatoo has never stretched or became distorted.
I can't say it is the same for everyone, I just know that theirs both look the same after the babies... they have faded in color a little though
