I think adoption is an awsome thing. Giving someone else the chance to be a loving parent to your child is wonderful.

I personally am very torn on this topic. I think that adoption is the best option, but being pregnant myself (32 weeks) I dont think I could carry a baby for 40 weeks, and then give it up. You form a bond with the baby before it is born.
On the other side (again personally) I could never have an abortion.
I dont think that abortion should be illegal, but I hate the thought of women using it as birth control. I think that maybe better education, from both parents and schools could help. Also Making different forms of birth control more easily obtainable may help some.
I dont know how well I answered this, but it's how I feel.

I am very much in favor of adoption but I'm not sure that "paid adoption" would be a good thing. Like others have already stated, having babies shouldn't be a way to make income.
On the other hand, I would agree with providing free medical care to women who have decided to give up their babies for adoption instead of aborting them -- with the condition that the money be paid back with interest IF they change their minds after the fact.

Sure, paying a woman $500 a year is going to make all the difference. Last time I looked, an OB charged $4000 for a delivery, not to mention hospital bills. Why do mothers need adoption, they have babies, if you mean women who hope to be mothers by adopting, well, what most of them want to adopt is white, perfect babies who's mommies are college students who had sex just once with their boyfriend who would have married them, but he died that night in a car accident. What get put on the adoption market is children of mixed heritage, some with mental and physical problems due to the drug and alcohol problems of their mothers, who don't know for sure who the daddy is because there are so may possibilities. There is no consideration of responsibility due to the fact that drugs and alcohol are excellent at erasing any such inclinations.
There is nothing wrong with adopting such children, but its not done, they languish in a holding pattern for life, and in the worst cases, in hospitals. They also tend to have child after child after child, I'd go a completely different route, I'd have mandatory sterilization after two pregnancies if the children are found to have drugs or alcohol in their systems at the time of delivery. I'd spend my $500 on that in a heartbeat.

I am very much against abortion, unless in the early stages major birth defects are detected. Too many people are using it as a means of birth control, when the Pill and condoms are an option. However, I am against the government having any say at all in it. I do support the woman's right to choose.....I just prefer they choose adoption.

I agree that women sometimes think that abortion=contraception, like it's ok to be pregnant cause she'll abort. Adoption is a good solution but that means having the baby, some women don't want people to know they're pregnant and that's the problem! and if everybody knows about the pregnancy how can you explain that you gave your baby away, with abortion the secret is kept and the women only struggles with her feelings not others

oooh this is a big can of worms.
would paid adoption encourage women to have babies for the money?
I work as an RN - when I see those poor little babies suffer so much being born to narcotic/ampehtamine addicted mothers - I wonder what made them continue with the pregnancy. They end up being 'parked out' into the Government system -dragged back and forward to their incapable parents- and the mothers come back for more and more babies (in Australia a mother receives $4000 to have a child)
It is nice to say women should be more responsible - but it is not realistic. Human nature is not necessarily responsible.
Why would you have your baby adopted out (the pain, the trauma, the loss of one's 'figure') when it is so much easier to have a termination? Well for money of course. Do we really want to encourage all mothers to chose adoption by paying them?
Just some thoughts

Paid ADOPTION ???
I wish if I can agree with you ! but remember
that the same women who don't believe in
responsibility will take advantage and
abuse the new adoption law by turning
themselves to a baby breeders then, comes
the baby prices and since we live in America, the baby's background will come
up,that's for sure. How much the white,
black,Spanish baby ?et cetera,et cetera,and everybody know,what's next !

Darn women, always causing problems with their irresponsibility.
Did you check your stats, are there 75000 families a year looking to adopt in Texas?
