I am living in an unsafe environement. I am on a fixed income. Can work but have little skills. Want to relocate from Courtland, VA to Norfolk, VA. Please help me to find something. I now live with 12 other people in one house. Jobs here are hard to find with my work experience. Son & I receives Soc. Sec.

Check internet classifieds in the area u want to live in. your're best bet is to find something like 1 or 2 room dwelling. Some communities have volunteer groups that can help find a small apartment. Sign up for food coupons in your area and maybe find a roomate to share the costs.

Maybe you should get a job and stop relying on all of us HARD WORKING people in America to support your lifestyle. You say that you don't have any skills but you can type! Typing is a skill and anybody can get a job where you will make more than $600.00 a month! How do you even feed yourself and your son? Man I may sound harsh but I was addicted to drugs for several years and did nothing with my life for years- now I've got a great job bought a house of my own, happily married with a daughter on the way. I all takes hard work to achieve but if you really want something bad enough you have to work for it! it can be done man

I suggest looking for rent controlled apartments or see if the county you live in has some sort of Affordable housing or "dwelling" unit program..you can probably do a quick search on the internet. Also try looking on Craigs List for roommate, or someone's basement to rent out that may be a helpful option.

I strongly recommend you to get a roommate. Your income is low, and you are young... I am sure you can get something to share with just one person... for 200/monthly (for each one) ... well.. probably a little bit far from where you are now, but at least try.

Most cities have service clubs Lions etc. that have income based housing.. In BC We have BC housing If you are on income assistance ask your social worker..
