Big Dirk--he is essential to Mavs offense and defense, there is no way they'd be as phenomenal without him. He makes the rest of the team shine.
Nash would be runner-up, as he's able to elevate the play of his team.
Kobe & Arenas aren't effective leaders. They don't make the players around them shine like Dirk and Nash.

Steve Nash. He means more to the Suns than any player means to any other team. Take away Nash, and the Suns are a pretty mediocre team. He is a 2 time MVP, and statistically, this season is better than the previous 2. And, because he was unstoppable against the Mavs, whereas Dirk choked in the clutch. Nash always hits the big shots, and does whatever it takes to get the team together. He is a true leader and the quarterback behind the "hurry up offense."
Dirk means a ton to the Mavs, and without him, there's no way they would have the record they do. I would give it to him if not for the performance against the Suns.

Steve Nash definitely because he is averaging a double double in ppg and assists he doesn't need the ball to help his team he turns the whole team into contenders and he works very hard if he is down late in the fourth quarter (i.e. March 14 against the Mavericks, down by 8 in the last 1:30 of the game he scores 8 straight points and the suns win it in double OT) if that's not a M.V.P. i don't know what is.

Maurice Brooks lists Dirk, Nash, and Kobe as the top 3. I would agree. Which 1 deserves the award? Let's compare the three.
Kobe is definitely a great player and superb scorer, but when it comes to shooting percentages for all three areas (PTs, 3PTs, and FTs), he is dead last. He has about half the rebounds of Dirk, and half the assists of Nash.
Nash is unarguably the least selfish player in the league w/ 11.5 APG. Alas when it comes to scoring and rebounding, he just doesn't contribute much. Of the three, he is the best percentage shooter. I wonder why he doesn't shoot more.
When it comes to assists, Dirk just doesn't have it. But he doesn't need it when he and his teammates can shoot. Dirk leads the three in rebounds and FT%. He leads Nash in points, and Kobe in PT% and 3PT%. He has only missed one game all season. And there is no doubt he is the best player on the best team in the league.
I have read a lot about Nash beating Dirk in double overtime, but realize, it took him double overtime to do it. Dirk had already beat Nash twice before that. In the 3 contests Dirk has outscored Nash 92-76. Even in the loss Dirk was only outscored by 2 (32-30).
And what did they do after that game? Nash led his team to back-to-back losses. Dirk? 8 straight wins.
I vote for Dirk.

I say Steve Nash. He is extremely valuable to his team. Take Dirk of the Mavs, they may not be a title contending team but they are at least still a playoff team. Take Nash off the Suns and they become a lottery team. Yes I know Stoudemire, Marion, and Diaw are great players, but without Nash as their floor leader they don't do well on the offensive end.

Steve Nash deserves the MVP because of the impact he has making the rest of the team better. He averages 19 ppg, leads the league with 11.5 apg while shooting 53% from the floor 47% from behind the arc and 88% from the line. The Suns are 52-12 with him in the lineup and 1-5 without him in the lineup.
Though there are better players than him in the league Nash is definately the Most Valuable to his team.

Steve Nash. hes averaging a double double with assists. something we dont normally see anymore in the L. being rewarded for being a team player is a good thing, and Nash emulates this.
when he was injured for 4 games, the team dropped 3 of them. everyone says he doesnt deserve it because he has marion and amare. well what is ur response then after the team dropped 3 games?
nash is the engine that makes all parts perform at optimum levels. nash contributes a lot to his team, more then many will comprehend.

Well, honestly I would agree with the current hype of Dirk Nowitzki. He doesn't score a rediculous amount of points, but enough for the team to win. He is very versitaile. Playing Center, and Forward. Decent handles for a man of his size. Not a ball hog. As well as he can shoot threes very well. He is good on both sides of the ball, and not greedy with the ball. So in my opinion he is as best it gets to an MVP
