Ipod Shuffle question?

I am a new iPod Shuffle user and I am having trouble deleting unwanted music. I understand you have to uncheck items you want deleted but I keep hearing the word "sync" when deleting. What is this and how do I do it? I appriciate any help.

this is simple really, i've had mine since they came out so let me help you. first anytime you hook up your ipod shuffle its going to "sync" that is read the ipod and see whats been played and skipped and paused and such. but also after this when you are in the shuffle playlist screen and you do anything, change the song order, add a song, remove a song, check or uncheck a song, it will "sync". this is automatic and you cant stop it, but really you don't need to its just doing its job of making sure your suffle contents and settings match what you do on screen and see on screen. this way you get exactly what you want. a little trick is, when you want to delete multiple songs hold the control "ctrl" key and select all that you would like to edit then delete them, or drag and drop them. same for adding songs from another source, just "ctrl hold" and click each one then move or add them. this way it only "syncs" once instead of for each song many times. i'm guessing it slows down your computer or takes longer than you like or just bothers you. so this way it will do it less. hope this helps you alot, the shuffle is my first ipod as well, and i love it, and i hope you continue to love yours and get to know it better, btw, mine was inscribed when i ordered it from apple with "say hello to my little friend" hehe, just a side note.

If you have iTunes set to synch with your iPod it will make what's in iTunes the same as what's on your iPod everytime you plug it in.

Set to to NOT synch automatically and then just right click on the songs you want to delete from your iPod (make sure you've selected the iPod in iTunes).

sync means you have to connect your iPod to your computer so that it can sync with your music library in iTunes. When you delete a song on iTunes, it's still on your iPod til you sync
