They have a worse record than Chicago. If the standings were determined the same way they were last year that would make sense. This year, though, the leaders in each division are not necessarily the top three spots in the conference.

Yes, but Cleveland has a better record than Chicago. This year's rules gives the top four spots to the three division leaders and the next best team and are seeded according to record.
The three division leaders: Detroit, Toronto, Miami.
The next best team: Cleveland.
Ergo: 1. Detroit (45-25) 2. Cleveland (43-28) 3. Miami (38-32) 4. Toronto (38-32)
If the Bulls manage to get a better record than Cleveland or Miami then they would be in the top four.

The NBA got upset when Dallas got the 4th seed last year with the 2nd best record in the West.

If this was last season Miami would still have the 3rd seed anyway because all the division winners get the top 3 seeds in each conference.

I agree with you Chicago is # 3 and Miami is tied with Toronto for the 4th spot, just to let you know and Washington for the 6th spot and New York, Indiana, New Jersey, and Orlando are really closeing in on the 7th or 8th spot. But the top 2 teams to advance to the Semifinals would be Washington if they didn't paly @ Cleaveland of course and Detroit if they didn't paly @ Washington becuase I think they would lose to them 4-1 if they played against the Wizrards in the 1st Round of the Playoffs or the Semifinals.

simply because the team that tops a division gets preferential seeding, as in the case of miami... but they won't get home court advantage if they meet a team seeded lower but has a better win loss record in the regular season than them.

the team is just too old..injuries to 3 starters[j williams/shaq/wade]..payton/mourning/oneal all have played 14+ seasons..antione walker 10 seasons[having a terrible shooting season]..j williams /injured most of the year and michael doleac[who never plays] 8 seasons...eddie jones has been with them only 24 games 12 seasons..posey for 7 seasons...only 3 'young' players on the roster who play start are wade, haslem and kapono...along with the riley absence for part of the year, they are lucky to be in 3rd place..in a division loaded with crappy teams...
