Am referring to answers by Brad on Rohana H question.Does this mean that oral sex have something to do with actinomycosis? How danger is it to the ovary?I had just removed my 1st IUCD and immediately inserted a new one.I also had the pap smear done which resulted to actinomycosis. It appeared on the edge of the previous IUCD string and the infection on the string itself was hardly removed.I was advised to take the augmentin 625mg.Can it be completely cured just by taking them for 7 days? Please help.

Please talk to your gyn and be reassured. Actinomycosis is found among many IUD (IUCD) users. The little ** are where I went outside the quotes

"However, there is no direct evidence that colonization by Actinomyces**the kind that is found on a pap and causes no symptoms** is followed by invasive actinomycosis.**the bad kind** The association between Actinomyces and IUDs is based on 2 types of observations: First, Actinomyces species can often be found in the cervical smears of generally asymptomatic women with IUDs.1-2 The occurrence of colonization increases exponentially with the time that the IUD is in situ**Inside you**, especially after 4 years."
I did find articles saying that bad infections happened after an average of 8 years of having an IUD.
It was proper to remove and reinsert a clean IUD. You got a 'restart' =)
7 days of antibiotics should be just fine.

I also didn't answer- No, you can't get it from oral sex. If you want the whole article please get a hold of me via the email on here- it's in medspeak but it's pretty understandable.
