you have a contradiction:
"I'm using a wireless broadband internet connection"
"the router is not wireless"

if you are USING a wireless connection, then SOMETHING is wireless and it's have to be a router. unless you WANT to use a wireless connection.

this is how it goes:

-from the wall to the modem
if what you have, only have one port to connect to, and is not wireless enabled, what you have is not a router, is a modem. You NEED to buy a router to be able to share the internet. These days, all routers have at least 4 ports to connect up to 4 wired computers, and if they are wireless enabled (if it's have an antenna) it can connect (ideally) a total of 255 pc's. and yes, they all could be wireless without having even one wired one.

-from the modem to the "wan" port of the router. Unless you have one of those "2wire" portals that the dsl company likes so much, and those have at least 4 ports and they are wireless enabled, so, you wouldn need anything else.

- if what you have is a wired router without any ports at all, except for the "WAN"port (which is VERY old), they you need a switch or a hub, and an "access point" (Nobody sells hubs anymore, everything is from switches to bridges and vpn's)

there is no escape, the easiest ways is to go and buy a new router, linksys, Netgear, etc, apart from the modem, is the only thing you need, apart from the actual wires that connect your desktops to it, or the wireless cards for the laptops, incase they don't already come with one already integrated.

If the broadband router also has a switch/hub function the yes. Otherwise you need a small 6port switch to help you out.

I think your getting the devices mixed up.....

The box that connects your pc to your internet service provider is a modem.....either a cable modem, or dsl modem.....a router is a seperate piece of hardware that has several plugs in the back to allow you to network your pc's via eternet cable, or wireless....
There is also modem/router combos being sold now.....
