Of so many I would think Brasil played in two of the biggest upsets in history. For me it's a tie between those two games.
They had the same atmosphere, they were the heavy favorites to win the tournament and probably the forgot that humility is always important before a big match like that.
The first one is the Final of the 1950 FIFA WORLD CUP. That Brasil not only lostto Uruguay, but lost in home, in front of 200,000 people. In the great Maracana. The Maracanazo. They were so confident they were champions because they had a higher goal score then Uruguay. Uruguay, needed a micracle and needed to win. Just imagine. As so many ways the story is told, I heard even that people commited suicides that day because they were so depressed. Throwing themselves from the second floor of the stadium. That extreme is a brazilian soccer fan.
Fast forward to the future and again it kind of happened again but different arena. This time in the 1998 World Cup Final against France. I know France was a good team but they couldn't be that better then Brasil, although Zidane had a great game. But things could have been better. They charged the field thinking they would be champions once again. They learned their mistakes once more.
