You can spin a list of when you think about the choices...

FLINTSTONES
SIMPSONS
FAMILY GUY
AMERICAN DAD
FUTURAMA
BEAVIS AND BUTTHEAD
REN AND STIMPY
SOUTH PARK
KING OF THE HILL
and probably about 10 I've never heard of or cannot recall...

as i said, the choice has to be a adult and/or primetime based answer... Masters of the Universe, or Spongebob dont count.

Personally, I love most of the above list, but its a 3 way tie between King of the hill, family guy and south park.

I agree with most of the comments
(would love to know which chimp is going around with the thumbs down)

Simpsons i heartily agree with that fella below, early great, the last 7 seasons have just got worse and worse though.

& a big up for the early ren and stimpy.
Lost its edge when they sacked the creator after season 2

...it's actually a three way tie for me....Simpsons, Family Guy and Ren and Stimpy (early Ren and Stimpy).

The Simpsons. You may have some favorite shows that you think are the greatest, but no animated show has been as popular for so long. The Simpsons is not only funny, but its funny every week, since the mid 80s. No other TV show has come close to matching this record for consistent success. This show has redefined the sitcom. There are now 2 gendres of sitcom, the funny sitcom, like the Simpsons, and the unfunny sitcom, i.e. a show that claims to be comedy, but is really about people that the shows fans like, and keep visiting a favorite show to see what a group of characters they like are doing this week.

I enjoy The Simpsons and King Of The Hill. I never got much out of South Park, or Beavis and Butthead, I think those shows are definitely geared more to men.

The Simpsons although there used to be one in the 70's called "Wait Til Your Father Gets Home" which was very similar.

Family Guy, The Simpsons, and Futurama are my favorites. I remember Dr Katz. I also liked The Critic but I don't think it is on anymore.

Two things.

You did forget Pinky and The Brain (Sundays on UPN going up against 60 Minutes)

How do you define "greatest"? It is a rather slippery term.

The Flintstones were first, but I feel Simpsons are the best

It's an obvious one...The Simpsons, although there used to be this weird one called Dr. Katz about a psychiatrist which was really funny but with really crappy animation. Does anyone remember it?
