Octopuses have a relatively short life span of six months to five years, depending on specific species. For most octopuses, reproducing is a cause of death. Males die shortly after mating, while females die of starvation due to self-neglect while caring for the young.
There are 289 known species of octopus, and they include North Pacific Giant Octopus, California Two-spot Octopus, umbrella octopuses, telescope octopuses, Seven-arm Octopus (It has eight tentacles, but the male keeps one tightly coiled most of the time.), Tuberculate Pelagic Octopus, and blanket octopuses.

Octopusses usually have a life span of between 1 and two years, not very long! just imagine how fast a collossal squid (ont an octpus i know more but of the same family) must grow to get to the size it does in 1-2 years.
