No "spirituality" whatsoever! UGH!

They get offended and react negatively when their religion is questioned and/or challenged. They should re-evaluate their faith.

Well now, if nothing else, they were consistent. I find many people of 'faith' rarely have any. Oh to sure, they go to church dutifully enough and they do their hosannas' and hail Mary's but let's be honest, most people, Catholic or otherwise who call themselves Christians are anything but. You made a perfectly valid observation and instead of answering the question you got the standard "OMG how offencive" answers.

When Sal-man Rushdie wrote the Satanic Verses and was persecuted by Muslims just because of one line in the book, my father, a man of great wisdom said to me: "How much strength in their faith can these people have, if a sentence in a book is enough to shake it to the ground". That statement has stayed with me as a reminder that anyone who, having been challenged on their faith, simply attacks or avoids answering is usually someone who has no real faith at all.

On another note, I noticed some said that you asked the question rudely or that you must be wearing leather shoes. I would dismiss such statements outright since it is obfuscation and avoidance. I would finally say to you, chalk it up to an experience and a lesson that when it comes to Religion and Spirituality, those who claim to be both rarely practise either.

lmao...yes there are a lot of people like that.

religion and spirituality is a section where differences of opinions not only come in contact with one another, but tend to escelate to an all out, verbal war.

religion is a sensitive topic, so lots of people get upset or angry if your views on God are not quite up to par with their own. i like this section just cuz i sometimes like to get involved in the fray, but i never bash a religion.

just remember that you're likely to get angry responses no matter what question you ask here, someone's likely to go off. dont take it personally...some people are just ornary like that

Ya babe. People over there are nuts sometimes. Most of them only see straight lines. I for once don't judge people based on their religious beliefs. I figure you can believe in whatever you believe. Just don't say others are stupid for not believing in what you believe. I honesty think that's just ridiculous. And you see that a LOT in R&S section. Just chill and move on babe ;)

I think the problem lies with your question. Look at how judgmental you were being and then you may begin to find out why people were taking offense. You were setting people up to get upset and respond negatively.

I saw your questions and it was pretty much stereotypical and judgemental. I wouldn't really be surprised if you get the same type of response to that.
Why are you asking to people on this category instead of asking the people that answered your question(religion & spirituality)?

PS: That category is hateful, I agree.
But this section is probably much more hateful, judgemental, and racist.

It´s a paradox ain´t it? But dear, that´s what religion as we usually know it is all about - judging others and forcing your beliefs upon them, the more irrational, the better. Did you not know that?

The vast majority of people who are strongly religious treat their particular religion as family and they love it as so. So, you may (as others do) feel your asking a simple question to a theology, they see it as disrespecting their family.
