Make sure you do not set too many upload slots or connections per torrent. You should also try to never run more than 2-3 torrents. In general, an average 5mbit connection with 512kbit upload shouldn't have more than 90 connections per torrent, or more than 5 upload slots, especially if running more than one torrent. Experiment with these values depending on your connection speed. This is the most common reason for torrents going slow, setting those options too high will make things slow down significantly! More connections does not mean faster speeds. Your best bet is to stick to the Speed Guide. The speed guide is available in the Utorrent options.

Good luck

Torrent software is notoriously slow. The hosts control the speed of you connection. .07 KB/s is a little slower than I'd expect you should see something from 20 - 70 Kb/s. You may be trying to download from an unhealthy and slow host or there may be alot of people downloading the same torrent. For the most part those softwares are useless and full of viruses. I'd stay away from the torrent software if you could.

Also, be aware that a lot of ISPs are throttling torrent connections now simply because of the bandwidth being used and the fact they they suspect that most of the torrents being downloaded contain copyrighted material.

The best way is to use something like Azureas and turn on the encyption - that way the ISP can't tell what it is you're downloading. It also helps to reset your router every so often so you geta new IP address.

by the way, uTottent has sold out to the bigger BitTotternt compnay now, which has done a deal with the big movie studios.

First of all, Check that you are connectable, Then check you havent got a firewall blocking Utorrent, Then that the upload limit is set to about 1kb/s, So that it wont affect the download speed.

If your on XP SP2, Use the TCTIP.SYS patch, Can be found using google, It will reset the connections back to 50.

If you have a router you will need to allow the ports. If so type in 192.168.1.1 in your browser and it should log you in. Password will be admin and no username. And if you dont you must have another firewall such as Norton or even the microsoft firewall...so you will still need to pass the ports on them. You can learn how on www.portforward.com
