I have very little faith in polls and surveys these days, but I do agree that the conservative ideology is losing ground. I think it starts with the actions of a loathsome leader who has sold his own party down the river...and ends with their intollerance. In order to be a well rounded individual, it is important to - at least - listen to the views of others. But the conservatives seem to be incapable of that...certainly the ones on this forum and the ones depicted on television. I realize there are many that do not fit this description, and that generalizing is as bad as listening to polls...but it is my impression. Right or wrong...

you recognize that the definition of conservatism has replaced interior the previous few years, and so has liberalism, in spite of the incontrovertible fact that conservatives are becoming lots extra severe. i consider a number of the previous answerers, this u . s . a . is oftentimes reasonable with changing perspectives. this u . s . a . isn't consistent with conservatism, or liberalism, yet a mix of the two, with the capability tilting one way at one time, and the different at later circumstances. the democrats won via a significantly great margin in november, we've the final public in each and all the branches of government, some purely via a small margin, yet nonetheless. and we also have a in particular democratic demographic on the upward thrust: Hispanics. and the country is commencing to attempt to alter issues for the better, which suitable now might properly be extra relatively performed via liberalism. between each and all the aspects I relatively have stated, and if Obama maintains to do a sturdy activity in place of work for the era of his term, them democrats might have extra administration for a protracted time, and hopefully, issues will %. up.

The questions in that poll have nothing to do with core conservative beliefs. Core conservative beliefs have nothing to do with social structure. Core conservative belief is a streamlined government, a balanced budget, state's rights, and a strong middle-class.
The Repiblican party has been taken over by social conservatives. This is a new movement started in the mid 1980s. Just as America rejects social manipulation from the left, it is also rejecting social manipulation from the right.

Well if you look at all the head to head polls with Gulliani against Clinton, Obama, and Edwards he is easily winning! So i'm not getting your point...:) Remember the liberals had a stumbling block from 1994 to 2006! They still dont have the 60 votes in the Senate to pass a bill. They also have no one to challenge a Republican in 2008! Pew research doesn't tell you these facts. Nice try though.

people said that back in 76', and so did Pew. THen 4 years later, along comes some guy from California and BAM!!! shows Pew to be wrong.

Just like cons who said libs were cooked in 96'.....pendulum in works. What is different now is that the pendulum moves quicker as more people are exposed to political media.

I think you are right about this. Sad, isn't it? Yes, the focus has shifted from families and family values to possessions and playing the politically correct, and for some, the I Hate America game as well. Families are paying the price for this, especially kids who are being raised with little responsibility and less moral values. Is it better to teach our kids to let government be responsible for them through more programs, or teach kids self reliance?

Funny that.

In THIS country (UK) its the other way round.

Guess people here are so sick of Blair and his cronies and political correctness and bowing down to UK Muslim organisations and increase in hoodies and crime and massive problems with being swamped by immigrants and benefit cheats, that people HERE are starting to reject the more socialist and left wing ideologies.

spose its the problem when anyone stays in power too long

in USA conservatives in UK Labour (socialists)

I suggest you go nback and look at the 2000/2004 Red state / Blue state map. You know, the one that looks like a big tomato with a couple of blueberry stains on it. Values don't change bubba.

I am not surprised at all.

The economy is not doing well.
So many homes will face foreclosure.
Credit card debt is sky rocketing.
Bankruptcy is rampant.
No good effective and affordable health care.
All this has got to do with a country in huge fiscal debt.
This concerns all voters.

This huge deep red fiscal debt can be attributed to the war in Iraq.

It is a huge mistake to have invaded Iraq.
Totally.
Prognosis is not good.

The troops need to come home (although with no time table announced so the insurgents are kept in the dark).

They need to come home and the country needs to be rebuilt.

It is still salvageable guys and gals.
