Okay, if I interpret your question, it's about the different layers earth has...?

I don't know about the person who determined it, but I can tell you about the layers.

There's the land and seas and whatever.
There's the crust, the thing land and seas stay on.
There's the asthenosphere, this really hot gooey rock layer that separates the crust from the mantle.
The upper mantle is the mantle that's higher than the lower mantle.
The lower mantle is the mantle that the upper mantle covers.
The outer core is (I think) hard rock.
The core is reeeeeeaaaaaaalllly hot, it's as hot as the sun, some people think.
