I have found a place to camp at the beach, about 1/2 hour drive and well known to the public at the school, camping is $42 for 2 nights, reservations required. i am making a meal deal option for $10, which includes food for 4 meals and sodas, now all I have to do is get people to go. there will also be free drinks. is it worthless to try to get seniors organized to pay for this in the matter of 1month?

1 car and 1 camping spot - 2 nights, $42
- 4 people in the car = $10.50 per person
meal deal option + camping per person = $20.50
and free drinks and firewood

I think that this sounds absolutely wonderful, and my 16-year-old would jump at the opportunity. So would I, if I were a senior.

Frankly, the problem might be in convincing the parents that it's okay for their kids to be out on the beach for an over-nighter. (Will there be adults?)

Even at $50/person, it is a great deal, so I think that it will not be difficult to get people to commit over the next month. How are you advertising? Flyers? School announcements on the PA system? Announcements on the back of sports and music programs? Will this be considered an official school activity, or are you just trying to get friends together? Are you also organizing activities (snorkling, kayaking, beach volleyball, tug-of-war)? If so, you should advertise those as well.

Pick a deadline for people to pay, but also see if you can reserve a few extra camping spots for stragglers up until the day of the campout. I'm sure that you can convince the park that it's a good deal.

Good luck!

it sounds like a lot of fun. But fun can turn into tragedy very quickly. I think the timing is a bit short but can be doable. You need to be able to answer to parents though how will you handle alcohol, security, water safety and so on. Most parents would feel more comfortable knowing you have a safety plan and some form of supervision by adults. The adults can be teachers who are class sponsors. parents and so on. You also have to back ground check adults to make sure they are safe and in return borrow from the boy scouts two deep polocy. always have more than one adult there or anywhere with a student. this protects the students from any harm and also protects the adults from false accusations. You really can make this fun too without alcohol. Ive buried too many teens and i do not want you to ever have to do that too. bring a lot of cameras, viseo cameras. put together the trip on video or slide show to be shown at your senior banquet or graduation ceremony. Find fun ways to make memories. and hey on the odd chance you have one or two who really can not afford to go. make a dontate cans of food for charity option as payment to go and try to pair people up in car pools if you are not bussing.

It sounds great, but have you thought about the liability for an accident and even worse, sexual assault, and so forth? You certainly would have to have parental permission and also have plenty of adult supervision, as with teenagers, especially senoirs, you can have horrendous problems. Alcohol is the main problem as it will definitely slip into the camp. Boys and Girls together for two days and nights, it can become a mess. Your heart is in the right place, but, the school will definitely not sanction it. Heck, half the schools don't even sanction the senoir prom anymore. I would take a pass on being the entrepreneur on this event.
