You should call around to different doctors and see if they can help you.
I've never heard of a doctor denying STD testing. She could have just let you pay out of pocket.
You may want to shop around for a new doctor too. I bet some places like free clinics in your town, will do it for free.
Just research it a bit :) Good luck.

Asking a doctor to test your for something you may not have, when you can't afford to pay for it, is not being denied service. Don't get stuck on the phrase without understand what it means. First, it's 'hospitals' that can't deny you treatment, if you come in suffering from an illness. You can't go into a hospital and demand that they test you because 'you think' you have an STD... unless you pay for the test. On the other hand, if you have pain and pus oozing from your genitals, they cannot send you home without treatment. Second, treatment is not free. You will still have to pay for the service. You'll get bills from both the hospital and labs, and will at least have to make a monthly payment agreement. Going to your doctors office is like going anywhere else for service... they want to get paid when a service is provided. They don't have to accept payment plans.

I have a better suggestion for you. Go to your local Planned Parenthood office. That's the place to go when your sexually active, not using safe sex, and don't have insurance. You will still have to pay, but some of the tests (like HIV/AIDS) may be free. The prices are affordable, and the staff is geared toward dealing with people in your specific situation. They're an excellent resource for women's health when you don't have insurance.

If you insist on being tested at your next appointment, I suggest you be prepared to offer payment. You may be able to call and get a quote for the testing.

Last, but not least. You're obviously having sex with a partner(s) you don't completely trust. You should be using condoms. If he didn't catch it from you,, he got it somewhere else. Why risk your health and fertility for someone like that? Tell him you INSIST condoms be used. If he refuses, all you'll lose is not having to worry whether you have an STD.

TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF!!!

If you want an STD check , I would go to an STD clinic.See, I live in Canada, if I wanted a pap smear and an STD check, all would be done in a day. It`s too bad, you guys are living in one of the riches countries in the world and you don`t have universal health care...All I do, is show my little green card!!!

I don't know what country you live in,but in the USA a dr in private practice is not obligated to treat you if you have no way to pay. The only facility that has an obligation to treat you is a public hospital.Go to the emergency room and ask for treatment or go to a low cost womens clinic or to a state run venereal disease clinic (those are free) I hope that helps you

Of course a doctor can refuse service based on pay. Is there any other business in the world where you would expect something for free? Why is it that a doctor, who makes their living from the service that they sell, should have to do anything for free?

The doctor paid a lot of money for that education. All doctors went into medicine to help people but they work very hard and should be well compensated for their efforts. And the emergency room can refuse to test as well. Wanting to be tested for an STD does not constitute an "emergency". Going to the ER is an obstruction to a valuable and limited resource -- and it's still not free.

There are other venues for the STD testing like the health department.

would you take a new car off a car lot without paying? well a doctor is not obligated to give his medical training away either . Only your local health dept or a free clinic can help . look in yellow pages or call information to get an appointment . No such thing as a free anything .. someone is paying

Go to a clinic. Good for you being so diligent in getting yourself tested even when the "pros" won't do it.
