all my mates are getting broody and at the age of 27 i feel like i ought to be too - but babies really disgust me. they smell vile and all they do is cry, poo and vomit. I dont find them in any way cute - they're fat, wrinkly and ugly and god forbid I have to hold one. is it abnormal for a girl to really not like babies??
thought i'd best not put this under the baby section as i will get lynched!!

actually my mum also found babies gross before she had me and my sis - she obviously found us wonderful but as a rule doesnt like babies either

i do think little children are cute, but then they actually do things that are cute. babies just smell.

Whew.....never heard of this before. I have heard of women not wanting babies for various reasons but never because they just disgust them. I have been around a ton of babies and they are all different. I have 6 nieces and nephews and lots of cousins. One nephew in particular used to cry ALL the time. He was so spoiled that even at times he would cry if you didn't hold him the right way. Then my niece would cry if you picked her up..she hated to be held, we even had to prop her bottle up for her. Then another nephew seemed to be perfect, he didn't cry much, not unless he had pooped and I guess your right, poop does smell..babies, mine and yours..lol. But every baby is different and chances are when you have one of your own you will love it unconditionally and no matter how much it cried or stunk you would love it with all your heart and it would be the most perfect thing you had ever had. Babys are gorgeous, so sweet and innocent, its a shame that some grow up to be adults who can also smell vile, cry, poo and vomit or may be fat, wrinkly and ugly!
Everyone has an opinion and it sounds to me like you wont be having any kids so thats fair enough, leave them to people who really want a baby!

Babies don't Revolt me, but I am not a freak over them either, like some women as soon as they see a baby they are all crazy and goo gooing and saying "aaaaaaaaaaawwwww, how cute"
I only do that when I see a puppy!!!

It is alright not to be that attracted to babies, I wasn't until I had my babies. And not every baby is cute, but I bet their parents think so. Look at your photos as a baby, what do you think? Can you love yourself as a baby, if yes, there is hope for you, if no, I think it will take time until you become a mother. But what's the hurry?

They do absolutely nothing for me. I never want to have children. I don't like them. I'm the same as you - if someone tried to pass one to me I wouldn't know what to do with it! I will not change my mind. People think I'm abnormal. I don't care. At least I know what I want (or rather don't want) and I don't just do what everybody else does. Most people I know want kids, but I've had similar discussions like this with other people. We aren't the only ones, but you have to be brave enough to face all those 'breeders' who either say you're weird or you'll change your mind (I won't: get over it!).

I used to feel that way when I was young and not married. When I had a baby of my own the maternal instinct hit me hard and I just thought babies were beautiful wonderful and magical..its all about maternal instinct.
