I have been broken up from someone for a year, and haven't seen them in a year, but still find myself thinking about him sometimes and wanting to do well for myself so he realises what he missed out on. There's no chance for a reconciliation because I wouldn't put myself through it again, but I want to know if it's normal to still feel a bit broken-hearted and resentful? And is it normal he still comes into my mind when I meet new guys?

Don't feel bad. I've felt the exact same way about a girl for 3 years now.

My boyfriend broke up with me about a month ago after 18months...and it was by text on my 18th birthday aswell. And ofcourse i hate him so much but still i love him and its just because you cant turn off the way you feel even though it seems that men can. I want to show my ex what he's missing too but i think that the best way to show him what he is missing is getting on with your life and not show him that you still miss him. He seeing you getting on with your life will make you seem more attractive because you dont need him in your life.
If u meet someone new and you think about him thats fair do's, he was apart of your life and its only normal. Dont let the memories of him stop you from finding someone better.
I hope i have helped and i hope your pain starts to get better. xx

Yes its normal to feel this way, its a bit like grieving, you need to give yourself time, it amazes me when people just jump from one relationship to the next, I wonder if they really cared for the other person or where they there to fill a void in their life.
After you have given yourself time, remember its your life, he's not feeling like this, so the only person your hurting now is you, and you don't need that!
If you still think of him when meeting new guys it just means your still not ready.
All that's wrong is you have a heart!

Sorry for sounding like a complete sap, but I was there

The best way to get over a guy is to get under a guy!! But seriously, you sound like me! I was with someone for a while & kept thinking bout him all the time when we broke up... I started going to the gym more & out with my mates more & over time its gotten easier. These things cant be rushed so dont worry how long its taking.. Everone is different. Stay strong!! x

i believe time is the best healer in this world. you said that it's been only a year which is short period may be comparing to the time spent with him. however, in addition to time, you must have the will and the convinction that this relation is over & no reconciliation.you must think of something else, widen your activities like practicing sports, hanging out with friends...always give a chance to someone new not to forget your old partner but to renew your feelings. so dont worry humans are not machines that can press a button to forget people, we have huge feelings that are sometimes uncontrollable but we should try our best to move on with our lives...

you need to divert your thoughts to something else...it is hard to get over someone you used to love and it's horrible when you break up...but the reason why you are still in this situation is because you are not allowing yourself to move on...you have to in order to get by in life...so you need to change your daily habits and take your mind of this lad...it wont work if your stuck in this rut...move on
