15 percent free space is needed to defragment the hard drive....

They are getting cheap, I would look into adding another internal drive.....

Try to keep at least 15% free. Also make room if you haven't by going into internet explorer and go into tools, then internet options, once you have done this delete unwanted files such as cookies ,, history files, and temporary internet files.
Do this by deleting your browsing history and the above by looking at the self explanatory files in the last window I told you to go into, or the easiet way is to go online or in your locl computer store and buy or download a copy of window washer". Also rmember to defragg your drives often, I'd say at least once a month.

I agree with vincent on getting another hard drive installed. Also I would suggest that if you install another large drive to partion it into two equal size partitions. What that does is speeds up the comps search of the drive for the program or file you try to open.

The minimun at which it will function properly is about 1 gig (or 1000mb). The recommended is 10% of your hard drive (which in your case would be about 10 gig). Ideally, about 25%.

Exact numbers vary based on amount of memory, etc.

i would say 5gb for file/page swap and virtual memory. but if you only have a 100mb left then you seriously need to get a larger hdd or a second one to spill over to!

Ideally, you should keep at least 25% free at all times, it will help your computer run without lag
