The boys are on the smaller side about 39 inches tall and weigh about 37-40 lbs. I don't want to get a bat too big or too small. I am finding bats around 25-26 inches and anywhere from 10 oz to 17 oz. Thanks for any help.

Go to the store, have each boy grab a bat and hold it out horizontally in front of them. If they can hold it up for 5/10 seconds that's the one to buy. If it starts drooping it's too heavy.

well seeing that you children are that young they do make tee-ball size bats for younger children...usually...because i play softball and other sports all year around i usuall by bats that are about up to the middle of my thigh....around there. so its not too big and not too small. but if that doesnt work take your children to a sports store near you who sell equipment and kind-of measure it up to them and see which one they would like the most.
