the lizard is just under 2 inches long, has velvet like skin that is a mixture of pink, brown and cream stripe patterns dark eyes a thick tail that only gets thinner near the end.
this lizard was found in south east south australia on leafy ground trying to identify it as i know many types of lizards but ive never seen one like this before.
its a similar length and build of the velvet spotted geckos i used to find at my grandparents farm when i was a kid.
any help would be apreciated.

Sounds like it might be Oedura marmorata or something similar, look in a book by Hal Cogger called reptiles and amphibians of Australia and look under this genus Oedura for a simlar type one. A photo would be best.

You may have to do some digging from this link but hopefully it will help you identify the lizard you have caught/seen.
