People use PDA as an acronym for Public Display of Affection.
Example: A male and female are kissing in the ticket line.
"I am not comfortable with their PDA, they should get a room!"

Now if you asked "What is -a- PDA" I would have said Personal Digital Assistant like every other person so far.

Personal digital assistants (PDAs) are handheld computers that were originally designed as personal organizers, but became much more versatile over the years. PDAs are also known as pocket computers or palmtop computers. PDAs have many uses: calculation, use as a clock and calendar, playing computer games, accessing the Internet, sending and receiving E-mails, video recording, typewriting and word processing, use as an address book, making and writing on spreadsheets, use as a radio or stereo, and Global Positioning System (GPS). Newer PDAs also have both color screens and audio capabilities, enabling them to be used as mobile phones (smartphones), web browsers, or portable media players. Many PDAs can access the Internet, intranets or extranets via Wi-Fi, or Wireless Wide-Area Networks (WWANs). One of the most significant PDA characteristic is the presence of a touch screen.

It stands for "Personal Digital Assistant"

And it is actuall a small handheld personal computer that you can carry around in your pocket, on your hip, or in your purse.
Most people use them for such things as daily reminders, doctor appointments. Some professions such as nurses and doctors actuall have PDA's with bluetooth wireless connectivity to their main frame databases on their computers at their offices or hospitals to help in their work activities. Some are hybrids such as Blacberries that are PDAs and cell phones in one. Pdas are used for numerous applications, and have expandable memory, you can use GPS locators, cameras, and can even play games on them.

It stands for "Personal Digital Assistant", typically a small, handheld computer. Most popular examples are the Palm Pilots and Pocket PC's.
If it includes cell-phone capability, this is commonly referred to as a "smart phone". Examples of this category are the Palm Treo, and the Blackberry.

Hope this helps

Personal Data Assistant. It is a small, hand held computer for many functions: calendars, contacts, todo lists, web browsing, email. etc. I've seen doctors that have medication and diagnosis information on them. Depends on their software and capabilities.
