Flag-burning, while controversial and quite offensive to many, is protected under the First Amendment as free speech. No one dies when a flag is burned. As for lying the country into war, one could ask Robert McNamara and that whole fantasy known as the Gulf of Tonkin incident...or you could ask the present President who seems completely incapable of telling the truth about anything. Of course, he lied us into this war... but until this nation learns to be a little bit less vain-glorious and proud...and to be a lot more humble...then what this nation needs is more humiliation. You should read the writings of John Brown, the abolitionist: he understood just how difficult it was and still is today for Americans to learn the lessons they need to behave like civilized human beings.

Lying is ALWAYS worse than flag-burning. You can always replace a flag (well, unless it's a 200-year old one), but you can never repair the damage done by lies.

Of course, most of us see through what you are trying to say: You are trying to call Republicans & Bush hypocrites for trying to ban flag-burning while not indicting Bush for "lying" to the country.

Just for the record, if Bush "lied" to us all, then we all must have been pretty big suckers, esp. since all those Democrats ursustrader listed certainly acknowledged Saddam's WMD program. I think with all the animosity they had towards Bush, even at the beginning of his presidency, they would have caught on to a lie.

I sure hope you aren't advocating flag-burning. Not only is it a disrespect to veterans and current soldiers who are protecting you from those who would CERTAINLY like to see you dead, it is also a disrespect to the freedoms you enjoy. good grief, you get freedom of speech (to say things like this), freedom to do simply whatever, and if you go burn a flag it's like saying "heh heh who cares about the freedoms....I just hate the president" and all that. Respect your country's flag because YOU are free, and not under the oppression of Islamic rule.

lying to the country is an action, burning a flag is a reaction. The reaction would not have happened if the action had not taken place.

Flag burning: not leading to death, not mentioned in the constitution, not covered in the Bible, Koran or the Dharmapada.

Lying: Can lead to death, not allowed under oath (like oaths of office, for example), specifically prohibited by almost all religious models.

I don't make moral judgment calls. I will call a weasel a weasel, and King George is a weasel.

Well, YOUR president Clinton did BOTH! He burned the US flag while protesting against the Democrats' Vietnam war when he was in university. And he lied about his attack on Serbia, where the reason for it was the 1000's of dead Kosovars in mass graves, which still have not been found.

So, Clinton's lying us into a war, followed by cowardly attacks upon civilian targets, including commuter trains, was much, much worse than his burning of the US flag during wartime to protest the Democrats' war.

All of the information that was our basis for entering Iraq came directly from the UN Security Counsel. I believe there are 3 reports each 400+ pages. Had the UN done their job in the 1990's, we would not be there.
We have found Weapns of Mass destruction in iraq and we have found mass graves indicating that Saddam had the willingness to use them.
Until you stand in a soldier's boots, you will be ignorant to comment on this subject for you know only what you watch on CNN while you sit back and sip on your starbucks.

Lying the Country into war is always worse. Since our Country was not lied into the current war, I would have to say flag burning is worse at this time.

Depends. If you think that your troops and vets mean nothing, burn a flag. You are only offending the most worthy of our nation.

And lying is lying. So for you to continue to postulate your lie, that Bush lied, without any evidence to support your case, who are you to "spot-check" anyone's morality? Even hypothetically?
