Carpenter bees are not like other bees. They are solitary. So you may have 1 carpenter bee, and makes one tiny hole, they don't actually eat wood as a food source. I had the same carpenter bee for several years, made one hole and never bothered anyone. Why do you want to kill every bug you see? At most they cause cosmetic damage to wood, they will not structurally damage your home and are important pollinators in nature.

Carpenter bees? Hmm, are they competitors of the carpenter ants? I would think that these two types of carpenters are available to help in repairing wood damage caused by termites.

they are almost impossible to get rid of. the bees mate then they begin to bore holes in ever thing from rafters to picnic tables. the only wood they will not bore into is pressure treated or would painted with paint that contains pesticides, which is hard to find.if you are able to paint the effected area you could go to your local hardware store and ask if they sell the pesticide additive that you can mix into the paint before applying it to the wood. this has been the only way i have been able to stop them.

Oh, those bast**ds...
I prefer a can of hair spray and a lighter, just in case it might make them suffer a little more before they die.
I'm a pretty much 'live and let live' kind of guy, except when it comes to carpenter bees. My dad is even more psychotic - I've seen him chase them all around his yard with a rake.
They can destroy your house, other wooden structures, trees, and any kind of tool with a wooden handle.
