Australian universities offer a high standard of education and are much more cost effective for foreign students than their counterparts in Europe and the United States.

Australian universities actively court foreign students since they make far more money from full-fee paying international students than local students, whose places are subsidised by the government.

Many students want to improve their English language skills so the chance to live in an English-speaking country and be taught in English is important.

Many students may come from strict families or cultures so coming to Australia, even if they have to live on campus, offers the chance of freedom and independence.

I'm French and I chose to study in Australia for different reasons:
- I wanted to leave my job and I needed to speak fluently English to get a better job,
- I wanted to move in another city, ok I moved in another country as well,
- I like Australia and I wanted to live in this country, and to come as a student was the easiest way for me to get the permanent residency.
- I have family here.
