There is the saying that "what seperates us from animals is a sense of humour"- if this is correct then what studies have been carried out to prove this statment. I have an image of a row of cats watching a white coated lab technician slip on a banana whilst a team of egg heads make notes behind a two way mirror. Can I make it clear that I am talking about humane behavioural studies for animals and not testing that is cruel.

I sat down with my cat and read her an entire volume of the Calvin and Hobbes treasury. I even explained a few of the jokes to her.

But she didn't laugh once. Not even a giggle.

Therefore, it can be conclusively proven that animals have no sense of humour.

Koko the gorilla, who understands a form of sign language, is believed to have a sense of humour. She has apparently responded to jokes and even made them herself.

I'm sure you are semi-joking and I appreciate that, but the reality of animal testing is no joke.

This is what really goes on in those labs:

Why thumb me down for that? I wasn't having a go at the guy who wrote the question, I simply wanted to point out that animal testing is far from the 'animals are well looked after' stuff the media tells you it is. It is much, much more cruel than that.

Is it wrong to speak out against cruelty?!
