practice, and if you don't understand something, ask for help right away. in math, unlike some other subjects, stuff builds on itself. so, if you don't understand something in chapter 4, when you get to chapter 5 or 6, you will be even more lost because it depends on that stuff you learned early on.

The best way to get better at doing math is repitition. You have to consistantly practice and solve math problems to get better at them. Don't just do easy math problems, try to challenge yourself. This is how to build your confidence as a math wiz. Good luck to you :)

1) Keep practicing and practicing.
2) Ask your teacher as many questions as you want.
3) Work with your friends and help each other.
4) Look at your math curriculum and try to work ahead, so it will be easier when you get there.
