As in labour law in Ireland, you are entitled to 3 days compassionate leave with pay, when a parent or a sibling dies.

Where I work the manual states we can take up to 3 days off, but it's without pay when a parent passes away. However, my employer is lenient and we get our full pay anyway which is against the policy.

Really depends, but only a 2-3 days normally. My work only gives 1 day!!! I actually got in trouble for going to my uncles funeral and then a family friend in the same month!!! My one girlfriend's work didn't give her a dime.... they allowed her to take a leave up absent for 1 month but they didn't pay her.

I am not sure of time off with pay but you would certainly be entitled to compassionate leave. The length of time could be determined by your employer. He may pay you at his discretion. The only way to find out is to ask him and discuss your needs. Please accept my condolences on your loss.

Most jobs allow 3 days off for the loss of a parent. Check with your employer. If that time is not allowed, ask if you can use available vacation time. If you've lost a parent, please accept my sympathy as well.

It depends on your company. Most allow 3 days paid leave for immediate family members, only.

It would be a hard company that wouldn't, but I don't think you are legally entitled to paid leave.
