I think everyone has that one person that will enhance their lives. The rest is a question of finally meeting that person at the right time. For example(this is a movie but art depicts life, yes?) in "Cast Away",Tom Hanks' character comes back to find his wife married to someone else. And they can't be together anymore even though his wife still loves him. So you might meet your soulmate but the timing or the place you at in your life just doesn't allow you to be together. But yes, soulmates do exist.

Does having discovered your soulmate mean that you have discovered a person who has all the attributes that you are looking for in a partner, and vice versa? Just because you have found somebody that is right for you, and vice versa, does not mean that a Higher Power put you two together, or there are Mystical Agencies doing the cupid thing.
I suppose the answer is that I do not believe in soulmates, just somebody whom I can be with for a short while down this road called Life.

No, but kindred spirits, yeah. There might be such a thing as soulmates but it ain't for everybody I think. Also, this idea of soul mates come from Plato, no? Check out a film called "Three Colors: Red" or "Red" (directed by Kieslowski). The film suggests that the older judge and Valentine (ahem, the obviousness of the name) may be soulmates but they were born in different time periods. Further viewing suggestions, also by Kieslowski would be "The Double Life of Veronique." (For a simplified, Hollywood version but not as good, see "Sliding Doors".)

I don't think there's just ONE person who is meant for us. It all depends on circumstances and decisions we make. I think what makes people feel others have found their soulmates is the fact that they see them putting each other first & doing everything they can to preserve and build the relationship. I think any two people can have this type of relationship, it just depends on how willing you are to work at it.

Yes, but I believe each person has more than 1 soul mate. It's up to fate when we actually meet them. Just as everyone else out there, I hope eventually I'll meet mine.
