Until they're dead, noone cares. You have to suffer if you're smart and other people hate your cleverness. I know this from my own personal experience at university.

Because, they are incredibly antisocial people (the brainiacs) who feel bitterly disillusioned and disappointed at the lack of stimulating company to be found ................. they feel they are awash in a sea of fools, or so I'm told.

****EDIT****

So, people don't appreciate real beauty, wouldn't do so even if it was slapped upside their face !! Rather maddening, actually............:0)

It's the basic human tendency to be jealous - the same reason why the smart kids get picked on in school and yet those who are physically strong are considered 'cool'.

Also, real true geniuses who come up with groundbreaking theories are always considered weird or strange just because people are afraid of change - look at what happened to John Nash (the subject of A Beautiful Mind), people didn't want to acknowledge that the theory they'd trusted for so long could be challenged. Good question, by the way!

Some people who are clever can be quite arsey about it (I know this because I've been guilty of it). I think often people are jealous at school and uni, because people like me get great marks with absolutely no effort. Also, people who are classed as 'intelligent' (people with high IQs) are not always interested in the same sorts of things as those around them (when I was at uni, they were all into drinking and mobile phones and I liked museums and debating current affairs). So maybe it's just a conflict of interests.

Possibly because many geniuses, whilst highly academically intelligent, lack a certain quality of social skills. It's like the somewhat accurate joke between people on my Uni course (Psychology) that many Psychologists actually lack the empathy and social skills required to be a Psychologist! Yet they are very intelligent when it comes to remembering theories and applying them.

people are jelous,
of course I dont think the likes of Stephen Hawkins, and Bill Gates, etc. are suffering much, if you do what you love then how can you suffer?
why let others dictate how you feel?
My son is highly intelligent, and he is still a normal kid, full of love, and is loved and admired by many.

Geniuses are very clever but usually have no common sense or social skills.

This is why no-one likes being around them but admires their intellect from afar.

They are just jealous that they are not a genius at anything but trying to get out of studying / learning to party. Don't pay them any mind....You go after your dream and let them drown!

everyone is jealous over something in someone - if it wasnt because you're clever - it would be because youre good looking - if it wasnt that it would be because you drive a nice car - its never ending!

People are too shallow (caused by society standards) to see true beauty.
